Stronger With You Absolutely is a 2021 fragrance in Giorgio Armani’s Emporio Armani line, composed by Cécile Matton. It is a sweet, boozy fougère: rum, elemi and bergamot over lavender and davana, settling onto chestnut, vanilla, cedar and patchouli.
It is one of the darkest and richest versions in the Stronger With You family, and Parfumo’s users rank it well above the 2017 original.
Creation and context
The Stronger With You line began in 2017. Fragrantica and Parfumo both date the original to that year, and Parfumo credits it to Cécile Matton of the fragrance house Mane. Parfumo lists candied chestnut (marron glacé) and vanilla in its base, and Absolutely keeps both.
Absolutely followed in 2021. Fragrantica’s launch report dates it to February of that year, and both Fragrantica and Parfumo credit Matton again, so the line’s original perfumer wrote this version too. The brand copy quoted by Fragrantica calls it “the strongest fragrance of this collection”, and the notes bear that out: rum, elemi and patchouli give it a darker, heavier profile than the 2017 eau de toilette.
The concentration is labelled differently by market. Fragrantica’s launch report lists an eau de parfum in 30, 50 and 100 ml; Armani Beauty’s US site sells it as “Stronger With You Absolutely Parfum”. The Armani fragrance business is licensed to L’Oréal, which Parfumo lists as its marketer.
The composition
Armani has not published a formula, but Fragrantica and Parfumo list the same notes, and Armani’s own copy names rum, bergamot, lavender, elemi, cedar and Madagascar vanilla.
Fragrantica classifies it as an oriental fougère, and its launch report describes an oriental composition on a classic fougère foundation. That is the key to reading it. The lavender and woods are the traditional fougère structure going back to Fougère Royale; the rum, chestnut and vanilla pull it towards the gourmand style. Parfumo’s community rates its main accords as sweet and gourmand first, then spicy and woody.
Why it matters
Stronger With You Absolutely is a clear example of the sweet fougère that took over designer perfumery after 2015: a fougère skeleton wearing a gourmand base. The gourmand itself goes back to Angel in 1992; what changed in the 2010s was that the sweetness moved into the fougère, often with a boozy or tobacco accent to keep it adult.
It also shows how a modern designer line is managed. Rather than one fragrance, Stronger With You is a family of stronger, sweeter or spicier variations on a single base, each aimed at a slightly different wearer and season. Absolutely sits at the dense, evening end of that range.
Its campaigns follow the same strategy. Parfumo names Nicholas Hoult and Alice Pagani as faces of its advertising, and in January 2025 Cosmetics Business and Hypebae reported that Armani had named the actor Nicholas Galitzine as global fragrance ambassador for Stronger With You. The Nordstrom listing this page was first built from also named Galitzine.
Reformulation and editions
No reformulation of Absolutely has been documented. Buy from authorised retailers, because the line’s popularity makes it a common target for counterfeits.
The Stronger With You family continues to grow: Parfumo lists Intensely, Powerfully and others alongside the 2017 original, and Fragrantica lists a separate Stronger With You Parfum released in 2025. Absolutely is a distinct composition, not a stronger dilution of the original, so compare them on skin rather than by name.
Wearing it today
Expect a sweet rum-and-lavender opening, a warm chestnut and vanilla heart within the hour, and a woody, resinous base that lasts well into the next day on clothing. Parfumo users rate its longevity and sillage above average.
Two or three sprays are enough. It is at its best in autumn and winter and for evenings; in summer heat or a small office, the sweetness can crowd the room. If you find the 2017 original too light, this is the version to try.
