01 — AT A GLANCE

At a glance

Guilty Eau Pour Homme is a lighter 2015 eau de toilette in Gucci’s Guilty Pour Homme line. It opens with lemon and bergamot, settles on iris and orange blossom, and dries down to musk and patchouli.

It was one of the last Guilty flankers of the Procter & Gamble years and is no longer part of the current range, but bottles still circulate.

02 — CREATION AND CONTEXT

Creation and context

Fragrantica and Parfumo both date Guilty Eau Pour Homme to 2015. It was released as a pair: Fragrantica lists a companion Guilty Eau from the same year. The bottle is the familiar Guilty shape in pale silver-grey, with “EAU” printed at the base.

Neither Fragrantica nor Parfumo names a perfumer, and Gucci did not publish one, so the composition is uncredited here. At the time, Gucci’s fragrances were licensed to Procter & Gamble; the licence passed to Coty in 2016.

According to The Scented Devil, Guilty Eau Pour Homme was the last of the Procter & Gamble-era Guilty flankers, released at the end of creative director Frida Giannini’s time at the house. Alessandro Michele’s era brought a different set of Guilty flankers.

03 — THE COMPOSITION

The composition

Gucci has not published the formula. The structure below uses only the materials listed by both Fragrantica and Parfumo.

Top — lemon and bergamot: a bright citrus opening in place of the original’s lavender.
Heart — iris (orris) and orange blossom: a soft, powdery floral centre, with the orange blossom linking it to the rest of the Guilty line.
Base — musk and patchouli: a light, clean drydown rather than a heavy woody one.

Fragrantica adds snowberry to the heart and files the fragrance as a woody aromatic; Parfumo’s community classifies it as fruity, synthetic and fresh. A Parfumo reviewer sums it up as “light and bright”. The Scented Devil describes it as lighter, fresher, drier and brighter than the original, with less sweetness, and suggests that the “iris” is probably read through ionones rather than a strong orris note.

04 — WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters

Guilty Eau Pour Homme is a small but typical chapter in the history of the designer flanker. Once Guilty Pour Homme was established, Gucci added an intense version, a black version and finally a light “eau”, each keeping the name, the bottle and the orange-blossom thread while changing the weight.

Its citrus-and-iris direction also points to where fresh designer fragrance was heading in the mid-2010s: cleaner, more transparent compositions with powdery florals in the heart rather than sweetness. One Parfumo reviewer compares its creamy iris-and-orange-blossom character to the lighter Dior Homme editions, which places it in that powdery-fresh style rather than in the sporty aquatic one.

05 — REFORMULATION AND EDITIONS

Reformulation and editions

Guilty Eau Pour Homme was sold as an eau de toilette. According to The Scented Devil, it was later discontinued and effectively replaced by Guilty Cologne Pour Homme (2019). Parfumo lists Coty as the last company to market it, which is consistent with that. The Scented Devil also mentions limited-edition repackagings of the Guilty line in these years, such as the 2013 “Studs” and 2015 “Diamond” bottles, which changed the presentation rather than the scent.

Because the “Guilty Eau” name was used for two different fragrances, check the bottle before buying: this version says Pour Homme and uses the grey Guilty bottle. It is also a different fragrance from Guilty Black Pour Homme (2013) and Guilty Intense Pour Homme (2011).

06 — WEARING IT TODAY

Wearing it today

Expect a quick lemon-and-bergamot opening, a soft powdery iris and orange-blossom heart, and a close, clean musk-and-patchouli finish. Parfumo users rate its longevity and sillage as modest, so it suits warm weather, daytime and the office.

Spray generously and plan to reapply; one Parfumo reviewer describes wearing it as a light refresher after a shower, which is where it works best. Since it is no longer in production, buy from a reliable seller and check the batch and box condition before paying a premium.
