About the Fragrances
1000 was released by Jean Patou in 1972 and is a refined floral chypre, famous for its use of osmanthus. It is the kind of polished, distinctly French composition her quote describes. Bijan is the signature fragrance line of the Beverly Hills designer of the same name.
Wearing It Yourself
Classic chypres can change a great deal over a day, so wear a sample for several hours before you decide. Compare the first few minutes with the drydown, where much of 1000’s character lives. Let her favorite open the door, then trust your own nose on whether to walk through it.
Why it matters
When someone speaks this warmly about a fragrance, it usually points to a whole taste in scent. If 1000 speaks to you too, other classic French chypres are a natural next step.
